Lin Jing is the daughter of Lin Dong and Ling Qingzhu. She is a kind of lively yet careless girl. Although she possess huge potential and on several occasions showed her peerless strength among the young generation, her adventurous nature hamper her from truly reaching the peak in the manner Mu Chen does. Her meeting and befriending Mu Chen causes the Martial Realm to have a favorable impression of the latter.

Mu Chen first met Lin Jing in Merchant City as he went there for an auction to find materials he need to cultivate his Sovereign Celestial Body. Lin Jing apparently has run away from home and forgot to bring some sovereign liquids (Merchant City's used currency), and Mu Chen had to bailed her out from an angry merchant whose a hundred years sovereign fruit got eaten by her. Later on, they met again in the auction house. Mu Chen would help her to get away from Liu Ming, young master of Sky Proufound Palace. He would also help her to get Heavenly Flame Jade Chalcedony she needed for her Sovereign Celestial Body, and she gave him a protective artifact, Defensive Spiritual Jade, to thank him. She would later join Mu Chen to fight against Liu Ming and his people as they tried to steal Mu Chen's Void Great Solar Fruit he won from the auction, which was actually a trap as Mu Chen intend to obtain Liu Ming's Undying Divine Leaf. When Mu Chen seemingly was able to suppress Liu Ming, Demonic Human Elder of Sky Profound Palace appear and tried to kill both Lin Jing and Mu Chen in revenge. However, before he could do so, Lin Jing's mother, Ling Qingzhu, appeared and suppressed him instead together with the group from Sky Profound Palace. When Qingzhu made clear that she must go home, Lin Jing invited Mu Chen to Martial Realm to come along with her, but he rejected as he thought he cannot truly grow his strength if he had such a powerful faction protecting him. Lin Jing was not very pleased by Mu Chen's rejection, but had to accepted Mu Chen's decision while quietly scolded his decision making.
